STRUCTURE

The Interuniversity National Consortium “Chemistry for Environment” (INCA) is a non-profit organisation which has its headquarters in Venice. A directional office is also located in Rome. Its main goal is the diffusion of chemistry for environment and Green/Sustainable Chemistry.

At present days, the Interuniversity National Consortium "Chemistry for the Environment" (INCA) is an Italian national network which counts 31 Member Universities and about 80 Research Units (RUs) all over Italy. (Click here for details)

The decisional structure of the Consortium is made up by:

1) The President, he is elected by the Directive Board, stays in charge for 4 years and cannot be re-elected. He is the chairman of the Directive and Scientific Boards and of the Council. He also issues acts produced by these ruling bodies. He is the legal responsible of the Consortium.

2) The Directive Board governs the Consortium and stays in charge for 4 years. It is formed by one representative from all the member universities, named by the respective rector. This board names members of all other ruling bodies. It has decisional power for financial investments, balance of the Consortium, management politics, approves admittance of new members, and so on. In its first meeting the Directive Board names the President and the Council.

3) The Council lines up the President and 6 members of the Directive Board plus the Coordinator of the Scientific Board. The composition of the Council is proposed by the President during the first meeting of the Directive Board. The Council stays in charge for 4 years and its members cannot be re-elected. The ex-Presidents of the Consortium become honorary members of the Council. The Council writes acts of the Directive Board, adopts measures issued by the Directive Board upon its delegation, and directly approves urgent measures of the Directive Board. In the last case, a following ratification by the Directive Board is necessary.

4) Members of the Scientific Board are the President, the persons in charge of the six research areas (click here for details), the representative of the Directors of the Laboratories named by the Directive Board, upon suggestion of the mentioned Directors. The Scientific Board stays in charge for 4 years and its members cannot be re-elected. A Coordinator is named among its members. Some external members (up to 30%) may come from public or private organisations, which collaborate to the activities of the Consortium. The Scientific board decides about the scientific politics of the Consortium. It designs long-term research plans, considering national and international politics in the field of chemistry for the environment. Then it submits plans to the Directive Board for approval and financing.
